ECN is opening up the opportunity for you to connect with our very own Don Hall, Director of Government Relations. Hall has spent more than 40 years in public safety so his emergency management experience makes him ideal for helping our current clients, potential customers and the emergency management community to interact with regarding the need and use of mass notification systems for state and local governments. We wanted to create a platform to make your questions for Hall, heard. If you have anything you would like to ask him please click here to send your question and he will address your question directly, right here in our “Ask Don” blog. Be sure when you send the email to place “Ask Don!” in the subject line.
This week, he was asked, “Considering our current budget limitations and fiscal constraints, what creative funding options can you suggest to help us purchase a mass notification system?”
There are many recurring and competitive grant programs that are available through the federal government. Additionally, each state has grant programs that provide an avenue to purchase a mass notification system as well. Reach out to your State Emergency Management Agency for information and guidance on these programs. In many cases, the local jurisdictions are not made fully aware of all of their funding options within the state. The program guidance and eligibilities for these grants usually change from one year to the next.
Aside from budget funding and grants, there are many other avenues for a jurisdiction to explore, such as corporate partners, civic organizations or even the concept of cost sharing with the partnering agencies that will be utilizing the service. Naturally, there are varying opportunities that are jurisdiction dependent.
Following a brief conversation with you about the specifics of your jurisdiction, I will be able to provide many more options and ideas for you to explore.
I encourage anyone seeking more personalized assistance in this regard to please reach out to me toll-free, 866-939-0911 or email me.
