In April, Send Word Now CEO and President Tony Schmitz attended Protect 2012 in Manila, Philippines and gave a presentation titled “The 7 Deadly Sins of Crisis Communication”. Send Word Now was the platinum sponsor of the event.
The theme for the Protect 2012 conference, the seventh in the series, was “Doing Business Amidst New Threats” and focused on risks stemming from the cyber world, social media, and natural disasters. Attendees were able to network and brainstorm how to protect their companies and organizations against digital attacks and weather-related emergencies.
While in attendance, Schmitz was interviewed by the ABS-CBN News Channel of the Philippines about the importance of business continuity within a company or organization. There are two angles that, according to Schmitz, every business must take into consideration when creating “well-thought through and coordinated business continuity plans or emergency crisis communication plans.” Companies and organizations need to consider how they can assure the safety and well-being of employees and how to get business and operations back up and running after an emergency. Schmitz also discussed the importance of mobile capabilities for companies and organizations.
The full video of the interview, including interviews with other conference attendees and sponsors, can be viewed here. Schmitz’s appearance begins at the 2:15 mark.
