Last week, business continuity and disaster recovery professionals from across the globe descended on central Florida to learn best practices and connect with peers at the DRJ Spring World 2013 conference. The event also gave the Send Word Now team an opportunity to connect with valued customers and meet new people who are keenly interested in crisis communications.
In addition to lessons learned from our own conversations, attendees were treated to a keynote speech by Send Word Now customer Brian Rossman, Director of Operational Risk for J. Crew. Brian gave an insightful and honest perspective on best practices gleaned from major weather events including Superstorm Sandy. He also offered generous praise for his emergency notification system.
Over the course of many conversations and presentations throughout the week, several key themes emerged:
Reliance on emergency notification technology continues to grow.
Companies and organizations without emergency notification systems were eager to learn how to integrate this technology into their resiliency plans. Companies already deploying notification systems were interested to understand how they could be more effective and efficient with its use. Overall, notification technology is clearly considered to be an indispensable tool in protecting employees and physical assets.
“Blasting” information is only part of the equation.
In our discussions, conference attendees consistently emphasized the need for a robust system that offers a multitude of features such as: two-way communications, strong reporting and auditing, management of in-bound Interactive Voice Response (IVR) capabilities, and more. Requirements continue to grow in sophistication as new features are developed and users apply their own creativity to the technology’s capabilities.
Security and resiliency are top of mind.
With reputations on the line, business continuity managers have high expectations for system security and availability. They were pleased to hear about Send Word Now’s ground-breaking 100% Uptime Guarantee and our various rigid security certifications that mean their system is protected and ready.
It’s rewarding to hear the many success stories and kudos from our customers. It’s also exciting to see “the light come on” with people who are not as familiar with the technology. Thanks for another great DRJ Spring World. And, if we didn’t get to see you this time around, we hope you’ll make plans now to see us at DRJ Fall World in San Diego.
