Emergency Communications Network Acquires CityWatch

Emergency Communications Network, LLC (ECN), the leading provider of high-speed, mass notification services, has acquired CityWatch from Avtex, a provider of integrated, interaction solutions. CityWatch provides mainly hardware and premise based notification systems and services to varied client communities.

As part of the agreement, ECN acquired all of CityWatch’s intellectual property and technical resources. In addition, the acquisition adds hundreds of new clients to ECN’s thousands of existing client communities nationwide, as well as several client communities in Canada. The deal also included the transition of 10 staff members to ECN.

“We chose the CityWatch acquisition because our companies have complementary products and a commitment to improve the communication of our client communities,” said David DiGiacomo, President of ECN. “The addition of the CityWatch product and service line, experienced staff and significant client base is a way for us to continue to build upon our stronghold in the mass notification arena.”

ECN plans to retain the CityWatch office location in Minnesota to support and maintain the company’s existing hardware without service interruption to current clients.

“We are excited to be joining forces with the industry leader for emergency notifications,” said Don Denman, Vice President of Business Development. “The advanced feature set of the ECN platform coupled with the integration capabilities of CityWatch make for a powerful combination and a win-win for both our staff and clients.”

CityWatch is the 2nd acquisition in ECN history. In June, ECN acquired One Call Now’s Government Emergency Center / 911 clients.
