OnSolve Leader Earns FCW 2018 Federal 100 Award

Government Solutions Director Don Hall recognized for efforts to improve public safety through broader adoption of FEMA IPAWS among U.S. cities, states and counties

ORMOND BEACH, FL, February 13, 2018 – OnSolve, a leading global provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based critical communication solutions for enterprise, SMB, and government customers, today announced that Don Hall, Government Solutions Director, was selected to FCW’s 2018 Federal 100. Hall was recognized for his tireless efforts to improve public safety by increasing awareness of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) among U.S. cities, states and counties.

The Federal 100 Awards are presented annually by Federal Computer Week, recognizing government and industry leaders who play pivotal roles in federal government IT. These individuals have gone above and beyond their daily responsibilities and have made a difference in the way technology has transformed government.

“Don’s steadfast work developing products and solutions for IPAWS at OnSolve and a 45-year career spanning all aspects of public safety uniquely positions him to make an impact on how the government IT community leverages notification technologies,” said Wain Kellum, CEO, OnSolve. “Don utilizes his extensive experience in emergency notifications and alerting to continuously drive innovation and close the gap between jurisdictions that have access to emergency notification systems, and those actually using them and using them well.”

IPAWS was created by FEMA in 2006 to provide public safety officials with an effective way to alert and warn the public about serious emergencies and provide the public with life-saving information quickly. IPAWS has taken on even greater importance with increased severe weather and emergency events such as Hurricanes Maria and Irma, the California wildfires, as well as non-weather emergencies such as active shooter events.

Recognizing its importance to public safety, Hall has focused on helping drive uptake of IPAWS among U.S. localities and helped better educate government organizations on all of the system’s capabilities. To grow enrollment, Hall in 2017 launched a strategic market education campaign on the benefits of IPAWS and how to effectively use the system. These efforts helped to significantly grow adoption of IPAWS, including OnSolve’s widely adopted CodeREDÒ for IPAWS solution.

Hall adds: “FEMA deserves a tremendous amount of credit for making it a priority to work

with local jurisdictions and the emergency notification vendor community to grow enrollment. FEMA outreach and support efforts have contributed greatly to the success of IPAWS and growth in system use, and I am honored to be recognized for playing a part in this important broader effort to keep people safe and informed.”

In 2017 Hall was appointed to the FEMA National Advisory Council Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) Subcommittee. As a committee member, Hall is able to further help ensure the nation’s alert and warning infrastructure continues to deliver timely and effective warnings that keep citizens safe.

Fed 100 honorees will be profiled in the March/April issue of FCW, and celebrated in person at the Federal 100 Gala on March 22nd at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. The complete list of the 2018 winners can be found at https://fcw.com/fed100.
