CodeRED alert system notified Foothills users of shooting

1 Minute Read

A shooting in the Boise Foothills lead police officials to use their CodeRED emergency alert system. CodeRED was used during the incident to alert residents and direct them away from potential danger. The system was also used during an incident in January 2017 when a man opened fire at police in the nearby community of Kuna. While Ada County dispatch handles sending out CodeRED alerts, fire and police agencies in Boise, Meridian, Garden City, Kuna, Eagle and Star can also have access to the notification system when needed.
