Forecasts of severe weather prompted Vicksburg and Warren County officials to remind residents of the CodeRED notification system available to sign up for emergency alerts. “We always tell people they need to have multiple ways to get warnings, especially when they might be asleep, and to have a way that might wake them up,” said Joanne Culin, a meteorologist with the NWS in Jackson, MS. Wind gusts over 60 mph and quarter-sized hail was expected, causing officials to warn residents to seek proper shelter and stay informed.
