CodeRED Named the City of Cleveland’s Critical Communication Provider

Ormond Beach, FL – [June 27, 2016] – Emergency Communications Network (ECN), North America’s largest and most trusted provider of critical and mass notification solutions, has partnered with the city of Cleveland, Ohio to deploy its critical communication and emergency notification solution, CodeRED. This system is being implemented city-wide to support general notifications along with emergency communications for residents, businesses, visitors, and internal staff– including throughout the upcoming July 2016 Republican National Convention (RNC) being held in Cleveland.

With a reported 16.9 million visitors in 2014 and predictions that this trend will only increase, CodeRED gives city emergency management officials the power to quickly deliver targeted community and emergency communications regarding severe weather, power outages, missing persons, and other time-sensitive alerts to residents and staff across the city. The system utilizes geo-targeting technology to alert those directly impacted via phone, text, email, TDD/TTY, social media, mobile app notifications, or any combination of these delivery channels.

“We are excited to deploy CodeRED to help us better inform our residents, business owners and visitors in the City of Cleveland,” said Alex Pellom, the Cleveland Emergency Operations Center Manager. “The system provides us an efficient and effective way to streamline information to those who need to know.  The mobile application provides us with another medium of communication that will serve our community moving forward in becoming more prepared and aware of both emergency and non-emergency occurrences.”

Cleveland residents are encouraged to visit the city’s website at www.city.cleveland.oh.us to enroll in the system and provide their preferred contact information. The system is free to residents and visitors alike and includes the ability to download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, the most downloaded public safety app in the industry. With the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, residents are able to receive relevant push notifications wherever they are located when an alert is issued by a CodeRED community. The app is available through the App Store and Google Play. Utilizing these combined system capabilities, the City of Cleveland can further streamline communications and continue to successfully honor its commitment to make Cleveland a safe city to live, work, and visit.
