Extreme weather and natural disaster events were up 42% in the U.S. and up 72% globally, according to the 2023 OnSolve Global Risk Impact Report. Earthquakes, volcano eruptions and severe weather events are on the rise. Such increasingly unpredictable events create dynamic risk, where the ultimate impact is different than the initially expected harm. For example, an earthquake can cause not only power outages but also hazardous road conditions that disrupt the supply chain, resulting in simultaneous and cascading critical events that can cripple operations.
